At Gabrielle Hone and Associates in Calgary, we support children, teens, parents and families through play therapy, counselling, parent sessions and family therapy.

Play Therapy
Helping children express themselves through play
Children don’t always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Play offers another way to communicate and explore their experiences.
Gabrielle uses intentional play, art-based activities and sand tray work to support children in expressing themselves and working through concerns. Sessions are shaped around the child’s needs, with opportunities to develop skills and strategies for home and family life.
Parents and guardians are part of the process. Gabrielle begins with a parent or guardian session to understand your concerns. Check-ins and additional parent sessions provide time to discuss general themes, parenting strategies and questions.
Where appropriate and with consent, Gabrielle may collaborate with schools, doctors or other professionals involved in your child’s care.

Space to talk, understand feelings and build practical skills
Counselling gives children and teens a supportive place to talk about difficult emotions, relationships and life experiences.
Rachel’s experience includes working with children and youth, adults and couples. She helps clients explore emotional responses, recognize thought patterns and practise strategies for managing challenges.
Her approach draws on Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and mindfulness, tailored to the individual.

Parenting Support
Time to focus on your concerns as a parent
Parent sessions focus on you: your questions, your responses to challenges and your relationship with your child.
Both Gabrielle and Rachel offer parent sessions. These conversations provide space to understand family dynamics and consider practical strategies that fit your circumstances.
You can begin with parenting support or use parent sessions alongside your child’s counselling.

Family Therapy
Working on relationships together
Family therapy brings family members into the conversation to explore concerns affecting their relationships.
Gabrielle works with parents and children, couples and siblings, both together and individually. Sessions provide space to hear different perspectives, explore patterns and work toward shared goals.
Who attends depends on your family’s circumstances and the focus of the work.

When a parent–child relationship has become strained or disrupted, families may need a more specialized service.
Gabrielle offers family reunification sessions. Contact the office to discuss your circumstances and whether this service may be appropriate.
